Application of ice to an injured, inflamed, or swollen area is the most effective, easiest, and CHEAPEST non-drug treatment available.
Ice: Decreases swelling
Decreases muscle spasm
Decreases pain
Decreases inflammation
Decreases congestion of the tissue
Ice should be applied with a specific protocol:
15 minutes ON
45 minutes OFF
